First time receiving massage therapy?
If you've given massage therapy some thought, but have never tried it, we understand that there are many reasons people hesitate to gain the experience. That is why we are trained in the art of draping and take pride in helping our clients feel as safe, secure, and comfortable as possible.
What is the process?
For your first session, we recommend arriving 10 minutes early to complete a one page New Client Intake Form. This will ask questions pertaining to your health and wellness as well as the type of work and hobbies you're involved with. As therapists, we need to be aware of any areas or conditions to avoid or work around in addition to getting to the heart of how we can help you.
Following the completion of the Intake Form, we will orient you to the procedures of your session including whether or not to disrobe (always the client's choice), draping, the outline of the session, and we'll help you choose a genre of music that you, personally, relax to the best and still fits with the modality.
What is "draping"?
In a full-body massage, it's important to keep our clients comfortable, especially if no articles of clothing are left on. The client lies underneath a top sheet and a blanket or towel is placed on top of that. A specific technique is used to move the sheet and blanket/towel. Only the area of the body being worked on is uncovered and then covered back up when moving on to the next body segment. This ensures clear boundaries and a professional and comfortable experience for both the client and therapist.
